aking from experience, I know what its like to put on an event and your help not hold up to par. All you can do is suck it up and do all you can to make it happen. I never had any intention to drive 14 hours to work my ass off but thats what it took. I enjoy having these events at any cost to me, hell its cost me thousands so far and will cost me thousands more but I will continue to go. Yes the payout was wrong but to me there is no dollar figure worth a good freindship. I would have no problem sending my money back for a recount just for the simple fact that im not in it for the money. we all need to just work together to make these better. Getting the bashed over and over only makes me want to make it better so lets just look at the big picture and move on. kevin f

Well, here goes, I'm gonna regret this, This is not personal, just some advice.

It is a larceny. There are three theories of larceny that can get you charged with the crime:

(1) Wrongful taking
(2) Wrongful withholding
(3) Taking with false pretenses.

Your crime is number two. You are withholding funds from their rightful owners and that is a larceny.

Larceny is the taking and carrying away the property of another with the intent of permanently depriving the owner of said property. You are doing it because you have reasonable grounds to identify the owner and are withholding it.

The only constitution I'm familiar with that says "Finders Keepers" is the Constitution of a Third Grade playground, which becomes invalid when you (1) graduate from grade school and/or (2) leave the playground.

At some time in your life, you will lose your wallet, or will lose something...then the law of karma will apply. Best wishes in your decision making.

I was sad to have missed Wellsville and very sad to see that things didn't go as smoothly as people would like. But when has any hillclimb event gone off without a hitch? No doubt this was a learning experience for many. For the many hillclimbs that Neal and I have attended now, all of which I have worked except for this one, I can say that I am VERY greatful for all the support while I was figuring it all out. Mickey Mouse has managed to make running the computer not only dummy proof for me but "blond proof" as well. :D One of the things I have learned as well is that it takes many people to work together to make the program run as smooth as we can make it. I would be over joyed if some of the people that are unhappy with the way things are running to step up and give us a hand. In case no one has noticed, in addition to running the computer I also have been having to run the timers and mic. as well as getting everyone registered, money and then passing out their #'s.
The most astounding part of all this is that I can do it without drinking my beloved budlight until it's over! And don't think that the stress of doing all the above doesn't make me want to drink! I choose not too because ALL the competitors are important to me and I want everyone to know that I have their best interest at heart.
I believe even under the best circumstances that some issues are inevitable. If they didn't it would probably get boring like watching race cars go around a big track without ever wrecking!
I know that everyone that has given of their time and talent to make these events happen do it for the love of this sport. My favorite part is getting together with all the wonderful friends we have made!
Finally, I would just like to say again....ANYONE PLEASE feel free to step up and offer your time and talents and let's work together to make every event fun and memorable.
Now let's get in the woods my friends!!! Love you all, Cee-Cee

Every single one of you are overlooking one crucial aspect of last weekend... THE NUMBER OF SPECTATORS!! I have never once seen that many people at Wellsville on a non-holiday weekend in the last 8 years that I have been going there, and I've never seen that many people camped at Forbidden Zone (The Village) PERIOD. I've also never heard so many people say, "I am building a buggy", "I am buying a buggy", "I want a buggy", "Those buggies are so badass!", etc., etc... SO, do you know what that all means? It means that our "sport" is growing recoginition, and drawing in new people, exactly what you guys wanted to do with these hillclimbs, whether the event itself was successful or not, look at what it brought out!! As Ody would say, "Food for thought."

Excellent Point... It also brought a lot more people to the site. If you look at the bottom of the Forum Page, we set a new record for the number of people on the site at one time.

If for once we stopped in-fighting this would be judged as a success on many levels. None of us had ever put on an event or done more then the hill cutting. For the huge problems we ran into in the middle of the event it turned out pretty good. But man was there a lot of people. Oh and I am sorry I told people to hit the qualifier more then once, but we couldnt get them backed out for squat so I was hoping we could get them over the dang hill. Didnt work either, lol. Just wanted to keep it moving.

Everyone is bitching about the area chosen for the climb. (1) since "The Village" sponsored the climb it had to be on their property, in which Wellsville is basically owned by 3 people (i think). (2) it had to be in a location where EMS could be at. Wellsville has some BADASS places and hills but none of which could hold a crowd and EMS could get to. I could take you places and on a ride that will blow your mind. But having a event like this is very hard to do. But don't knock the place just because of a bad event!

I should have been here long ago to read threw this forum, but at that time with Wellsville trails and face book to keep fires under control I forgot to even come here. This I am sorry for. Now as far as the hill climb.

I totally agree we had some problems but for the first ever event in this area and the turn out we had I feel it went great.

The next event if woodsbuggy so chooses to have another one will be much better organized, we already have the spot picked out and it will address all the issues that people bitched about.

For the Kentucky people, the situation with the local authorities was not even on our radar, the past two years we have done every thing we can to work with them and turn some bad things to good. This alone has been the hardest thing for us to do. We even went out of our way to meet with them several times about this event in hopes they would see the light and the positives that something like this would bring to the area. Now it is months later and we have made several sizeable donations to them, with the first one being directly after this event they have backed off. It's not like we have asked them to do anything wrong or turn a head to an issue. We made it very clear from day one when we opened the club that negative actions and anything that could cause us to loose the riding area was not going to be tolerated, second to this was the safety of members, and guest belongings. I could write a book here of what has been done to secure this area, I just hope the Kentucky people can in the future let the negative go and return once again.

Also in the future we want to put on a organized ride, since a good portion of the core group in charge of the club are buggy people, we would love to show every one attending the hill climb what all is to offer in this area for riding.

So I’ll get off my soap box and thank every one that attended for a great time, woodsbuggy.com staff over all I feel did a great job, technical difficulties cant be helped sometimes and we had a lot of people against us. We showed them that an event could take place, with out injuries, no major problems and unneeded drama.

On another note, two older gentlemen showed up I think on Tuesday in a motor home and spent the entire week hanging out and running their buggies. I would like to get in touch with Dan I believe they were calling him “Buggy Dan” If any one knows who I am speaking of can you have them mail me at chairman@villageohvclub.com

You can also find us on face book, just search “villageohvclub”

As always we’re also on wellsvilletrails.com

Thanks to everyone that helped make this event happen. I for one had a great wknd. It sucks that things were suck a clusterf@*%. Like said before this was the first event here of any kind! The village people and those here on this sight tried hard to put on an event and should not be bashed for there hard work. They would surely listen to constructive critisism. I don't think they expected the MASSIVE turnout they got. A lot was learned and the next event will be smoother i'm sure.

Totally agree, we figured on maybe!!! 1000 people, instead we roughly had 2500 at the village and 5000 total in all. That was the figures given to us by Saline Township.

by major turnout, we're talking about 2500 people, from what I hear. No one can prepare for that when it is completely unexpected.

I personally return to a buggy, all do to this weekend. It had been at least 7 years I had been out of a buggy, I had moved on to jeeps for several reasons, mainly do to my health "back issues"..

To date this is still the most people we have had all year.

Fact, The Village \ forbidden had never seen so many people at once, ever!!

The area was going to die, I had tried several years back to promote the place and do positive things but it failed do to things out of my control. The ones that know me know the story. The last year I was busy attempting to make things better had been the best year as far as turn out of riders est.

Yet another fact that very few know is I actually started this url woodsbuggy.com, and gave up on it when things failed at forbidden. The said failure was hard to deal with, but the end result has been bliss...

I'm truly happy this url survived and thrived, and progressed as I had envisioned. My hats off to the people keeping it going and building it to what it has become.

Well All I can say is your place is by far the best ive ever been to. Yeah the event was a mess but its done and over with. I had a blast and will be back, dont know when but i will. Its a long journey from my house to get there. It took us roughly 13 hours but well worth it in my book. Keep up the good work and see you guys soon.
