have good oil pressure when cold ,after warms up oil press goes to near nuthing . new alum case new motor have changed relief valves every thing ....i need help

oil lines mounted backwards?(The relief valve in the filter may act like a check valve)if it flows backwards.Just a guess.

How good is the pressure when running cold? PSI?

75 psi or better cold ,after warms up will drop to 15 to 20 at idle pressure will come up pretty fast when u accelerate but very uncomfortable with idle pressure being a brand new motor

Wormy if you motor is full flowed your oil lines should run like this. Come from the pump to the oil filter, out of the filter to the oil cooler, from the oil cooler back to the motor by the pulley. The plate on top of the motor needs to be looped together. If you try to cool your oil from the top of the motor you only cool a portion of it. The releif valves will let some of the oil dump back into the motor before going through the cooler. If your plumbed right, what weight oil r u running. All I ever run run in the winter is half 50w and half 20w 50 kendall or valvaline vr1. Onother thing if you have 15 to 20 psi idling its still a safe pressure. Ive always understood that you need 10psi per 1000 rmp, so if the pressure goes up prety fast as you hit the gas your prolly ok. I have seen oil pumps do and cause your problem to.

Hi Wormy. You 1st said near nothing then you told Kevin 15-20 lbs.When you are trying to get diagnosed on Woods Bugg you must tell it all, right. But while we are talking about cold oil. Years ago on a COLD morning I cranked my motor and an idiot with me me reved it full throttle. I screamed, "STOP"! He argued I screamed he argued I screamed and the filter blew off.Later he was telling the world that he saved my motors life. "What would have happened if my cheap defective filter blew off on the trail."Truth was the THICK MOLLASSES,50 weight oil that morning at 30 degrees at 5500 rpm blew it off.(of coarse let it warm up slowly) Kevin and many others are very very good. But watch for people that make out like they are all that and get you in trouble.I'll be out at the top of Hulk today. There is an easy road to the top. IT's long. It's the old RF mtn road.In between Grass and Hulk there is a stream coming out into the road. follow the stream and there are some ugly mtns back in there. Julie n I may hike back in there as well.

my motor brand new always idled at 15 to 20 warm! wide open between 60 and 80 im not saying thats rite or wrong but that was normal for my motor

kevin plumbin is right im not all that comfortable with that pressure but maybe it is not all that bad im gonna change pump if no differance i say hit the pedal all it can do is lock up

By a melling pump . What is the oil tep & what oil. My eng at 200 deg. runs at 20psi with 20/50

Graden2387 has the same problem with his new motor he running it without any problems.
