Well Im in Virginia for work, But I got a friend back home to tear my motor down for me and it was a rod bearing. So I guess I'll break it in a little easier this time around? Im hoping to be in wellsville with it Labor day weekend, But figured id let you guys know you were right about it.

breaking one in dont have anything to do with a rod bearing,could be a oil journal no oiling good

when u hold an aircooled vw engine wide open with the crank pulley pointing at the ground u will spin a bearing it will happen every time untill u dry sump it cause and effect the motor just simply ran out of oil

15 years and never ran dry sump and still dont have a problem, I just run it with an extra quart. ac or wc

im with u we got some long hills here and ive never ran a dry sump and dont nobody around here,if its built right and clean u wont have a problem

i built a brand new 2275 had about ten hours on it and it did the same thing it was even dry sump and didn get ran that hard i think its just a vw thing

i might not be no expert, but i do know what a bad bearing sounds like. its one of those sickening sounds that hits you right in your wallet. ive had my share of them. :mrgreen:

All I run is a full flow system on my buggy and Ive never had a oiling problem. The only thing I do is run a windage tray to help hold the oil around the sump.

and didnt you tell me a 26mm or 28mm oil pump instead of the big 30mm pumps ??

Thats right chris the 30mm pump sucks the sump dry dry under high rpm and foams the oil really bad. The 26 or 28 solves that whole problem.
