I ran the FK 89 in my dragster with 51 mm IDA carbs like said it is all or nothing. Power starts at 3500 rpm. Mine hit the rev limiter at 8000 rpms. If you were building a sand car an FK 87 would have better manners. Pick the rpm range you want to run in and go from there. Engle VZ 14, VZ 15, FK 65, FK 7, FK 42, FK 43 These are all going to pull hard and fast from idle to 4500 to 5500 rpms. For your heads an engle FK 8 cam, FK 8 or web 86B(faster accelerating version of an FK 10 cam would be a nice 2000-6000/7000 as long as you have close ratio gearing and the tires are not to tall or a T-2 transaxle. FK 65 is a ratio rocker cam like the 100 but with faster ramps for harder acceleration. The Engle FK 43 or 42 might just be enough to take advantage of those great flowing heads and use stock gearing. Most of the time off roading it is better to have 100 ft #s of torque at idle and 150 at 4000 rpms, that to have 180 at 7000 rpms. I watched these guys drag race up hill around and through trees that don't move and it didn't take long to realize the advantage of the small duration, high lift cam and 14 to one compression. Skynard's "oak tree your in my way" comes to mind when I think of Woodsbuggy competition with an FK 89 cam. 60 ft times in 1.8 seconds leaves little time to turn.
