I don't want to hijack but what kind of cost are we talking about for either the engine-air or Donaldson. The K&N facts are scary when you realize that that fine silt really wears on the rings. Anyone given any thought to the water/ methanol for cooling and a cheap power adder. Snow performance makes kits for almost any engine. I have been considering it for the summer months and during abusive hill climbs.

What's wrong with the nice looking K&N filter?

I don't know if you know that K&N makes different grades of air filter.
I have the 1st one with a filter wrap, it's should filter more dust.
I agree that K&N are not in the same league as the canister style filters.
I'm just letting you know that K&N has a better version filter for dust.

It is the same size as this one.

Thank you. The thing that makes a pleated paper element style "better" is when turbine fins are incorporated in the inlet to create a cyclonic effect that sends the heavier particles into a pre-cleaner. Without this feature paper elements will plug in a short time in extreme conditions. (think about your shop-vac) Donaldson is an industry leader and also an OEM supplier for many equipment manufacturers and never a bad choice when space permits. However, we all can't ride around with a D-9 air filter sticking out of our hood so alternative choices are out there when compromises need to be made.

That looks super cool. Make sure to support and brace the tubing. Those air boxes have been know to crack if there is any weight hanging on them.
