Ouch!!! That sucks that it happened to you, how did you get out of the woods? PM Eric Debord, he can hook you up with a near bullet proof transmission for your ride, he took care of Firebug's transmission, maybe you can give Marty a shout and see what he can say about his work, I am very happy with mine, it is built all-the-way with Weddles besides the R&P and still running strong 3 years later. Hopefully you will be able to get this fixed so it won't happened to you again and good luck, Chad 8)

I towed him as far as I could a couple of times. Then there was a bunch of wenching that Odyknuck and Jim took care of and then we lucked out and found a 4X4 that finished the job. That made for a long afternoon in the woods.
After we got back Bill took us out to dinner, had one of the best steak dinners I've ever had, Thanks Bill.

It dont cost no friggin $6K like someone had said earlier, either. He could build you one completely brand new, case and all, for way less than that.

for 6k i would skip the 091's and go to mendola. i ended up dealing with rancho performance http://www.ranchoperformancetrans.com/service.html got a vanagon 6 rib case, gusseted (on the sides)and sleeved where the pinion bearing sits. went with the weddle 4.86 r&p and decided to replace the spyder gears in the diff with weddle. already have the weddle gear sets. the stock r&p that broke had been fine for 3 or 4 years but it was just "stock." under the circumstances, subi power, weight, driving style, ect..... it served its purpose. after 25-30 years of service things are bound to break just sucks that it happened to me

a friend of mine went to rancho for his transmission, he's running swing axel in his buggy, he said those people are very good to work with, so far thats the only transmission that has held up for him in wellsville. it wasnt cheap, but as i always say, spend the money once and be done with it.

glad you guys enjoyed the steak dinner. sorry ya missed it dave but if you haven't been there before its worth checking out. sometimes it takes forever for the food to make it to the table (if you listen real closely you can hear mooing over the jukebox)

couple pics of the new case. just a reminder, if you buy weddle products dont buy direct from weddle go through rancho or any other dealer of weddle products. weddle will sell to you direct but they will charge you list price. it is usually cheaper to go through a dealer.

me and odyknuck had a great ride this past weekend. it was slick as snot on a doorknob because of all the rain. the 4.86 r&p made a big difference especially climbing hills. seems to be a lot more into the power band instead of bogging down and having to side step the clutch.

What other factors involved besides R&P,, are there new weddle gear ratios too ? Climbig if first or second? In other words the power band is better where? compared to what? just curious
