Rear outer bearing question. Trailing arms are custom 2x3 s . Don't personally no who made. Problem is with all new bearings and spacers cranked down like crazy still has always had movement. After 3 seasons I opened them up and all is ok. Except the play is still there. When I got these things used loaded, someone had a inner bearing on outside. (one piece). Is it possible that is what I'm supposed to be doing or did they just use whatever they had. No play, seems like it fits like a glove. But doesn't the inner part of bearing have to be able to move ? When you tightened the castle nut down ? No real place to do a real test here at home to figure out for myself. Don't wanna figure it out in rush ky on memorial day weekend. Thanks. If nothing else put back stock and tolerate the play.

The inside bearing is a thrust bearing. There should be no movement (in and out) with that bearing. The outer bearing is a radial bearing it allows some in and out movement that is how the nut tightens everything up. If the movement is up and down the bearing fit in the housing is bad. If that's the case there is no "good" fix. Some have shoved thin feeler gauges in there to take up space with limited success.
