You need to add some foam padding and a pillow to those tree bars in case you need a nap!

Looks good. I just measured mine from tree bar to tree bar yesterday and I think it was right at 87. You could haul some serious coolers at least.

Very nice as always. I assume on the Wings you are going to add a brace from the knife up to the vertical?

Mike Excellent fab work as normal!! but I noticed the pic of the left frt and the bleeder is on the bottom of the caliper and it should be at the top but in the mock up stage it doesn't matter :)

By any chance did you make a extra set for me?
The steering/ram looks really strong.
A professional build.
Norm

I would have Norm, except I thought you were on a tight budget. Then I would have had to make 5 sets for everyone else that said wheres mine.

The parts weren't to bad, I think for what you get. I know they are way better than the buggy parts that are out there. The calipers cost about $92 and the rotors were about $62. Where the problem comes in is no one makes a caliper bracket that goes from a VW ball joint brake backing mount to a Wilwood caliper so that needs to be made. The hubs are, reluctantly, EMPI. I took a chance on them and for $65 each If they fail I'm not out a bunch. The material to build the hubs would have been almost $200 alone. So all 'n all, I made everything cheaper than I could have bought it and got way better parts. This set up in Jamar is over $600

Yep, I bought the Jammars and love them. Couldnt afford the machines to make em  See you in May I hope!

Not a lot to share. The throttle issue is solved by mounting the drive by wire throttle in a water tight box. It turns into a standard throttle cable and foot pedal up front.

I have the cutting brake installed.

And I'm working on a dash, floor tabs, Dzuse tabs for the fiberglass and seat belt tabs.

Real soon here it will be time to take it all apart, do all the final welding and get it to powder coat.

I can't help if I start off with a cardboard dash and it ends up being the cockpit of a Boeing Dreamliner. Start off not wanting any gauges at all, just a couple of switches and maybe an idiot light or two and call it a day. But no, I'll end up with the dash out of the fricken space shuttle. Good thing I don't have a bunch of room, not sure where I would put the ghetto blaster.

Lmao! Don't they all start out just going to be simple, best of the basics projects. Then it's well I need this or I can add this and well since I've did that I might as well go ahead and do this also, and on and on and on,damn I need to drink a beer and think about this one more time, lol. Don't forget the drop down oxygen mask for those high altitude hill climbs. Chad

classic "drink and think" syndrome.... happens alot out in the garage during the winter months. be careful because its as contagious as the flu but unlike the flu there is no known vaccination or cure. it has been said that to ease the pain one must spend time out in the garage with others that suffer from the same ailment.

Nice build Mike. But where did you get the 1400# at. I've tried keeping mine as light as possible and I would say mine will be close to that mark.

Terry I have been thinking the same thing it looks like 1500# with no driver. But there must be some light weight parts that we ain't seeing. And it is coming along nice.

This is what I said............
"I'm shooting for #1400 trail ready with my ass behind the wheel. Not sure if that's possible or not anymore. Since I quit smoking 16 months ago, I was packing the pounds on."

Terry what makes it possible for yours to be close to "that mark" and this one can't? Is it possible I know what the bare frame weighed before I started and have been keeping track of weights throughout the build? Is it possible that I have a set of scales here and I can keep track as I go? OR was that a projected weight, something I'm hoping to obtain and If it does weigh what I'm hoping, great if not that's great too. I'm looking at your build, nice work by the way, but I'm not seeing a 1400# car there either but then again my eyes are not calibrated for weights, just measurements. I think your seeing the fiberglass and thinking weight.

Hows about a gentleman's wager? I'll bet you a dollar mine is lighter than yours when it's finished. I'll back it you with a photo of it on a public scale with the weights. You do the same when the time comes.

I need to get my car on the scales come spring. I figure it weighs around 1700 lbs but it is a big guess.
