At this point in the thread, I don't even feel like this is an intelligent debate but more of a puff your chest out, who's d!(k is bigger contest.

I would agree with anyone who has stated that if major modifications have been made and sweat equity has been invested, then any rig should be "considered" for buggy of the month. Which looking back at Steve original question, that was what he wanted to know. Could these rig's be "considered" for BOTM.

To answer that qustion, we would have to define what we are calling a buggy, or a woodsbuggy. Who can do that? Every member being equally as important as the next, who on here can step up and claim to define what a woodsbuggy is. My opinion is going to be different than the next guys, than the next guys. No one will ever be able to come up with a site-wide definition. And to come up with some definition would only exclude people, which is not what the site should be about anyway.

That being said, I think this debate has spiraled way out of proportion and we need to all keep the tone a little more friendly.

There has been some talk of why this site was started, and I can tell you exactly why, because I was there. This site was started by Dean Marks, with the help of some key players that you all know from on here. At the time, we were all on a site called dune-buggy.com operating in a forum called buggy talk. A good majority of the guys on there were from out west, and all rode the sand. Dean started this site to give the memebers from there a place to talk about the woods and woods cars, as the style is totally different from the sand. In them days, everybody on here was friendly and open to help and consider whatever another member was doing. There were no hill climb events, there were no sponsors. Just a bunch of guys that liked getting drunk and riding in the woods.

This "brotherhood" type feeling from those days is getting harder to keep up due to growing membership of the site and the variety of rigs in the woods. I see more variety in power plants, drive trains, suspension, etc everyday. People feel very strongly about their rigs, and they should, but we all need to be respectful of others' rigs as well.

Very well said Kyle! I remember the day Dean ask if I would help start this site. We never thought that it would get this big. And Steve is one of my closest friends and could never been able to have a WB party without him and his wife. Just because he doesn't have a buggy and rides a RZR, doesn't mean he is not a part of this site. Hell he is a moderator! Now for a RZR being a BOTM? I'm torn on a response. To me, a woodsbuggy was arail type buggy. But in these modern times it "seems like" a woodsbuggy is anything with motor and a roll cage. So do we want to see a cages go cart as a BOTM? Or a Chevy Blazer frame with a square tube frame and 2 stock seats? Personally.... no I don't want to see stuff like that. But Steve's RZR is badass, production line or not.

If you want to start a mini buggy forum and have a mini botm then that would be cool cause a lot of us have or probably will own one at one time.I would consider rzrs mini buggies, just because of they way they are designed, and like the can am.but when you get into rhinos and mules and utvs then I think that they are not a mini buggy.they are some wicked little mini buggy builders out there but still they are not to me considered a woodsbuggy.again this IMO.now I think the razors are nice but even in a mini buggy forum I would still not want to see a stock anything get mbotm.got to do more than change a few bolts and throw some rims on it to set it apart from everybody elses.your suby buggy was a woodsbuggy.you should have put it up for botm that was a sweet ride.today there is a lot of single seaters out there and you could argue if they are a woodsbuggy.I mean how could you consider a buggy that you won't carry tools parts cooler or a passenger cause your afraid it will way to much to climb a hill.that makes it a hill climbing buggy, not a woodsbuggy.lol.then again you take a single seater with a tool box, chain saw,60qt cooler, enough spare parts to almost rebuild it,maybe a shovel, winch and like a 11 or 15 gallon fuel tank.then you would call this a woodsbuggy right.lol.everybody will have a different opinion on this but one thing though I think everyone will agree on is just because your rzr doesn't get botm don't meen your not welcome or wanted that would be crazy.and really you can't believe that the rzr is going to be end to buggies.there is no way in hell that they will ever carry what we do and take the abuse that we dish out unless they do some serious upgrades and make them bigger as well.they are not made for a big person at all.trick that thing out and make it the first mbotm.I got 800cc Joyner 2seater that's getting ready to get a 1641 and a 3rib maybe I could submit it and try for the second ever mbotm.I like this idea of a mini buggy forum all ready, start it and let's start posting pics.Chad

i say no way should a side by side be considered a buggy, woodsbuggy little buggy,or what ever botm, its a freakin SIDE BY SIDE.didnt you guys start this site because of the type of buggys you ride? because you didnt want to talk about aluminum beams, sand paddles and a arm suspension? if we start letting utvs or side by sides on this site the forum will be full of what slip on exhaust is the best or should i buy itp or maxis tires.they already have plenty of sites.i think anyone should be able to join or stay no matter what they drive but it needs to stay WOODSBUGGY.COM not UTV.COM.or maybe we should start HOMEBUILT1.5INCHTUBECHASSISREARENGINEBUGGY.COM.just an idea.

All home made. Ft suspension from a 400 4wheeler. Dont remember what make. engine is 550 ninja motor and six spd trans with chain drive to a polaris transaxle with high, low and reverse. has same pedals as a buggy including hydraulic clutch and has a hand operated shifter for trans. Climbs great. It belongs to someone i know. He just weighed it. Came in just over 900 lbs.

It is a Honda. Whats the difference for a polaris? A buggy is a buggy. If its a subaru, pont, vw, chevy, ford, polaris, honda, suzuki, or all of them together. Its still a buggy.

im with ya steve i dont care what you ride i still like ya

Interesting topic! My thoughts are the Polaris XP, RZR s, Rhinos, Can am Comanders etc are UTVs not Woodsbuggys. They do well in the Woods however they are a production unit not a hand built unit like 98% of what we see here. They are great machines intended for a different market of people that either have no fabrication skills or the desire to build something of their own. Unfortunately Steve I will have to agree with the majority on this and in answer to your original question of being a BOTM is No! It would be kin to entering your brand new off the showroom floor Harley dressor in a custom bike show. Just does not fit.
I would not even consider my 700 Pilot as a canidate for the BOTM on this Forum. The UTVS and Pilots have their own niche sites and that is where they shine. Sorry Buddy.

Mixed feelings on this one. I was building my buggy for the local terrain, mountains, trees, rock and dirt. I considered it a cross breed between a sand rail and a dessert racer. Parts sourced new and used or hand built in a garage. When I found Woods Buggy, it was perfect, as to info, ideas and every thing.
So in my opinion, if it is tube frame, and assembled from components of more than one source and built for a woods style riding environment, big or small, it's a woodsbuggy. My 2 cents from left field.
