I believe there were 2 years of ball joint front ends?? The 5 lug and the 4 lug. I think that the inside bearing(by the brakes) are smaller and the out side(bt the lock nut) is the same size?? Did a drum swap on a buggy from 5 lug to 4 lug and had to change the bearings and seals. Thanks Dave T |

The inner bearing is smaller on the 5 lug drums and the earlier 4 lug versions. They were that way through 68 and part of 69. Early part number is 311 405 625. Inner spindle diameter is about 1-1/16" Seal # is 131 405 641A Late part number is 311 405 625B Inner spindle diameter is about 1-1/8" Seal # is 111 405 641B Outside bearings are all the same. You can install b/j 5 lug drums on the late spindles by using the appropriate late inner bearing and seal. Or late drums on the early b/j spindles with the right bearings/seals too. |
