In the research process of buying new axles for my 3 x 3 Trailing arm mod. My Instinct tells me to bite the bullet and go direct to Sway-a-Ways and be done with it. However my cheap side tells me to look for the less expensive route. So here we are! The cheap side wants to know who has run axles such as Empi etc and what sucess rate have you have. I see on CIP that they are offering Axles that are made here in the states for around $180.00. Keep in mind I have lots of HP and a 2500# Buggy.

I bought mine from Dans Performance. they have been very good. I have stripped out several splines out of cv's but never the axles.

I run the cheaper Empi ones & have never had a problem but my buggies are under 1500 LBS. & Ive never had more than 150 HP. For your tank I would get the best. I saw some made from 300M on ebay which is supposed to be the strongest ones but they go for 500 bucks.

Bite the bullet and buy what works. I bought the sway-away axles and lobro cv's and have ran them going on 6 years where on the other hand chad bought the cheap 1's and has broke 3 or 4 axles and a crap load of cv's because his cv star is stonger than his axle and when he brakes a cv the axle stips out you cant even get them apart. He now runs the good 1's and havent broke since. Another good thing about sway-away is that they are torsion axles they take the pressure of your tranny and cv's.Only speaking from experience.

I have broke R/p brake roters but no empi axles . woodsbuggy axles 6 year old & had cut firestones or cut boggeres 33 14.5 p.s for your car i think 300m sway a way

I am the Cheap side of Mr. Captin Overkill who excaped the Buggy building looney Bin. Give me what I want and i will go away! Sway-A-Way that is! Actually I just have a lot of expense right now with building the Pilot and buying new coilovers for both the Pilot and the Woodsbuggy and a new set of 1st thru 4th Weddle gears etc. Sometimes I just gotta cut cost somewhere. Does not mean I will, I at least have to explore the options.

AMEN!!! He is correct, I got a little cheap on them parts and it bit me hard several times, go for the best and that way you got nothing to worry about, just buy the SAW axles and Lobro CV's with a set of good chromoly cages. This is speaking from experience too

Here is a twist on this, even Sway-A-Way are not without there faults. I already there Axles and Torsions and sacked my first set of Torsions and twisted the end off the replacement set. Thats why I am going coilovers. So having said that what makes another made in the USA axle at less cost any more of a gamble than theirs.

High jacking I guess. Don't know what brand axels I have, (Latest Rage, maybe?) but they are supossed to be torsional and are marked LO & RO. Just wondering about getting them gun drilled. How big do you go and does any body bother? Or are they just to cheap? 2nd , how are the Empi race prep 930's? Thanks.

I wouldn't be afraid of the empi axles. I ran a set years ago with 2x3's , and then made a set of 3x7's and then got a set of 300m sway-aways. I didn't have any problems there, then when I built the race car, i was going to get empi axles, but the longest one they make is 28" :x and inch too short. so then i had to either cut the car apart or pony up and spend close to $600 for custom Pro-am axles. I wouldn't be scared of the empis. Hell they are cheaper than breaking a trans anyway if they do break!!
