I know it would be nice to have a square frame. Everything seems square until I cross measure, 5/8" diference. So 5/16" to correct. Yea, it's diamond'd. Is it worth worriing about? My frame is pretty cut up at the moment. would n't take much more to cut and correct. I just think about all your frames, rolled and bounced off of trees, how straight are they? |

My old buggy was so tweaked when me and friend started cutting the chassis up the tubing was springing. |

Unless you are driving it on the street I don't think it has to be perfect. I know my frame is a little crooked. whoever built it didn't take there time and make shure everything was square. Also constantly jumping it probably isn't helping anything. If it ws 2-3 inches I would def fix it but I don't think you will ever notice 5/8. |

The factory tolerances for frames and unibody "control points" on SEVERAL domestic autos (Mustangs new and old, Crown Vics, lots of small front drive GM's, F body GM's, etc, etc) is supposed to be 8 mm or less, which is about the same as 5/16". I've measured a couple of brand new cars off the lot during frame measuring training courses that were actually out worse than that, but you'd never know by lookin at the car or driving it. You got nothing to worry about.

mine was straight -- when i built it !!!! -- After several incidents with kamikazee trees and boulders and etc, i cut my roof off to raise it for my new seats - you should have seen how far the tubing sprung when i cut it . I wouldnt worry about it cause it will just get tweaked again after a couple good hits to it |

Thank's all! I'm replacing so much of the frame for other reasons, that I think I'll try to straighten it. If I can't then I won't sweat it and just move on. Dave W. |
