I got this crazy idea in my head, i was thinking a front engine 350 sbc backed with a th400, get a rear end out of like a s10, or something like that. that would be mounted right behind the seats and bolt a sprocket up to it just like you would with a wheel, the chain would then run down the trailing arm to the hub, and iam kind of stuck here. what kind of hub does people like CHAINDRIVE use to get the power to the wheels? heres a general pic of what i have in mind, like i said its some crazy idea i have

With the motor up front I would say chains arent nessesary. Look at these cars. They use jag rears. http://www.sandrocket.com/index.html |

At the end of the trailing arm you would just use a standard VW bearing carrier. I think the chain drive guys mount a sprocket to the stub axle where the outer cv would typically mount. This would allow you to run the standard vw brakes or s10 or nissan parts. |

I was going to do that about 10 years ago, but I was going to put the engine in the back like a buggy and mount the axle directly to the tranny upside down (to correct the direction). But I have about 15 other projects to do first! |
