I know if they are aftermarket they should have a L (left) and R (right). I'm not sure on stock ones.

After removing the axle shafts from the buggy a month or so ago, I now find out that I should have labeled them Left and Right. Is there a way to figure out which is which? Also, how would I tell them apart from stock ones? The CV's are Lobros. Thanks |

there is also a left and right on your torsion bars. i know a guy that couldn't get his suspension to stay up for more than 1 ride and it was because he had his bars in backwards, hell I didn't even know there was a L and R on them until pipedope mentioned it to me at the coldspot, now my suspension should stay where its at, i mean the guy i knows haha. and i believe there is no left and right on stock axles because there is no torsional effect with stock axles so it doesn't matter which side you put em on. |

there are no marks on stock axles. Axles are less likley to break if you keep the stress in the same direction. I've aalways known this and never seem to mark my axles, luckily I have never broke an axle, Knock on wood! |

Ok, thanks. I dont know if they are stock or aftermarket axles. But the cv's being Lobros are aftermarket, correct? And if they are, then i am hoping there is a L and an R on the axles. I did notice there are some markings on the end of one of the shafts I looked at, but I didnt pay any attention to what they were. Will be looking shortly. Have to pickup some marine grease for the CVs. |

I have heard that Caterpillar Desert Gold grease is very good for CV's. |

I wish I would have known about the cat grease. My daughter's boyfriend just left Cat in Peoria, IL. Oh well. Update on the axle shafts: No L or R on either end. So I am guessing they are stock. Repacking the CV's is a tedious process. Any way to make it easier/better? I remember reading somewhere that prior to re-installing the CV's, the pocket of the tranny output shaft andn the pocket of the stub shaft get filled with new grease. Is this the way to go? Thanks for all the help. |

On stock axles the splines are about an inch and a half long with a shoulder, and the aftermarket splines are more like 2 1/2 inches with no shoulder,,,the cv will actually slide out into the middlw of the shaft. As far as grease,,,I don't think you can get too much grease .
