Post subject:  Weighing buggy per corner?

I would like to weigh each corner of my buggy for setting up my shocks. Could I use one scale to weigh each corner individually or would I need four scales to weigh each at the same time. I know race cars use four scales but I don't need to be that accurate and could use a 1000# shipping scale thats accurate to about a pound. I would like it to be reasonably close.

as long as the other 3 corners would be level to the scale top it shouldn't be a problem. we used to weigh race cars like that before we got 4 scales. if you just lift the one wheel up and wiegh it with the car on the ground it will be different that when its level. been there done that at least on open wheel modifieds. i would assume the same applys here.

That what I figured. I just thought I would block up the other 3 wheels with wood or something to make them sit equal.

Any guess on what size scale I would need. With a 2.3 water cooled cast iron engine and un-cut boggers on steel wheels I think its gonna be heavy. I just wonder if a 550# scale would be enough. I probably need the 1000#. 12 gallon fuel tank also, thats 100 pounds full.

i bet you will need a scale bigger than 550# to weigh the back. i weighed my car last year with a race car scale set and the rear was over 600# on each rear wheel. and my car was kinda heavy (for a race car)

I got it used from th e stock car guys for 80$, Checked my buggy @520 lbs rear x2 and 300 lbs front. Will scale it at the elavator when it warmer.
springs @ 70$ x2 for dual rate = 300 or axle so 80$ is cheap investment!

I have never seen anything like that. Do you actually lift the wheel being weighed off the ground? I wonder how accurate it is. The price is right!

You hook it in a groove on the outer part of the rim and lift the corner off the ground. It has a level thingy you get close with and take the reading. Seems to be hydraulic. The man i got it from said it checked the same as the guys using four corner scales? How close you want to get? Are you runing dual rate coil overs?

I don't need to be that close really. I'm running Fox Air shocks and need to get the valving, oil volume and nitrogen pressure set to the weight of the car. I may just order one. Let me know when you try it if it works well.

Thats cool it looks like you just take the weight displayed on the scale and multiply it by 4 or 2 since they are 4:1 and 2:1 ratio. The nice thing is you just use a bathroom scale since the weight is mostly supported on the floor. If I read it right and looked at it right?
