I have the hex and it is a pain in the butt once the hex get dry, un oiled or ungreased. The splined may be easier but I have never tried it.

I totally agree with Dave. My hex has gotten nearly impossible to remove. It worries me since I have to remove it to get out. I am going to the spline this winter....if I remember to.

I have a hex disconnect as well, it is a pain without constant lubrication. A spline set up like we ran in the sprint car has the same problem as the hex without proper maintenance. The advantage of the spline is the larger surface area of contact between the stem and the wheel hub. This keeps a tighter fit up on the wheel which can be important at real high speed aiming.

It's the same, "Don't take care of it, it won't take care of you."

spline is what I have in my single seater and Hex in my 2 seater. I like the spline better.
