So I have a 1776, I think. I put the 87 mm pistons on a stock motor. Anyways I have a progressive carb on there now. It sucks. Dave hix is running a holley two barrel on his 2276, it runs great. I beleive the rochester two barrel that gm used is the same bolt pattern as the progressive. I was planning on going to the junkyard to pick up a carb. My concern is jetting? Can you even buy different size jets for those things? If so where? Do ya think it will work as is? I can get the carb for only $25 from pull a part, so if there is a posibility that it might work I'm gonna give it a try. |

that would be a 1641 intead of 1776 which use 90.5 jugs and pistons but either way i would think the progressive would work fine if rebuilt and floats set and jetted and tuned properly and im sure if u find a carb its gonna need rejetting unless it came off a 4 cylinder engine and even then it may need a rebuild and rejet.....jmo |

better stick with the progressive,if u can find someone that has jet drill bits can open up the mains and the squirters and it should do great |

steve , you heard my engine with the progessive carb , it runs real good ! ( i think) in my opinion i would rebuild it but thats my 2 cents . i dont know if you would be interested but i have a set of dual weber 34s with linkage and scat intakes i would possibly let go if you would like to think about that ? im sure they need rebuild  but you have a good buddy that knows duals that might be able to give you a hand ! you know who im talkin bout

I have rebuilt the carb twice. It ussually runs fine on flat land or smooth trails. Everey once and a while the float sticks at random. It cuts out on bumps and jumps. Jumping is one of the biggest reasons I own a buggy. I'm shure with a little tweeking it would run fine. However I am looking for something that may be better. I know I'm gonna have to rebuild anything I get from a junk yard.  that's no big deal. I just thought this might be a cheap, easy upgrade. The two barrel rochesters are very simple. They work great in demolition derbys. I am machining down a hei distributor to fit the motor this winter. So I haven't rulled out the possibility of building a throttle body fuel injection set up. I just wondered if anyone has tried the Rochester. The other question I threw up was, can youbuy diffeerent size jets for one of those carbs. If no one has tried it that makes me want to see if it will work. Giveitagallon. Thanks for the offer, but that may be a little bit to much carb for my motor. lol |

ive not had any trouble out of a weber progressive myself, when i got my motor off of larry it had the progressive carb on it, it seems to be doin good for me |
