I have been looking for a set of 5.88" rods, but they are hard to find and are expensive,so i thought about going to a 6.0" Chevy rod with the small journal, but the wrist pin diameter is .967 and the 94mm piston's pin diameter is .866.Im going to call around and see if anyone can rebush them and drill them to the right diameter and flip the bolts toward the piston,as they are pointing toward the bottom of the motor for a SB Chevy. My question is,has anybody done anything like this and if so ,how did it work out for you? |

Rods will be week if you flip the bolts. |

I talked to a guy at Bergmans and they said they could flip the bolts around and rebush them for the VW wrist pin diameter.I asked about strengh and he said that they would work the same as if they were already for a VW case. The crazy thing about it is,i can buy a set of 8 H-beam rods for a SB Chevy for $250 to $300 and its a shame that only 4 H-beam rods cost the same, kinda makes you wonder who is making all the money. So if a man was smart he would buy a set 5.7" SB rods and have them reworked for the vw and have 2 sets for a VW at a little over the cost of one set. |

I've thought the same thing myself. |
