my 1776 cranks slow, good battery , good power to starter. Gonna put new starter in it this weekend, got one coming from carquest for $40. Anyone ever have this problem with their starter? Wont crank fast enough to get enough spark to fire. |

Sounds like your timing is off. |

Does your starter have a nose bushing? They were out and will cause drag But in you have a automatic starter or High torx it dont use a nose bushing ...Or like Brad said may be a timing thing |

I have had the same issue when I had a short in my starter. I have also had that happen when I did not have a good ground. |

Is your ground cable from your battery grounded directly to the starter bolt? If not, this could be your problem, just a bad ground. Try running a heavy jumper wire from the negative side of the battery to the starter bolts, see if it makes a difference. Change out the bushing in the bellhousing, this is a common problem. Take the starter apart and clean out all the rust and mud, lubricate it while you are in there. |

Check the motor on the starter and make sure it is tight. I had the same problem on one of my buggies and that's what it ended up being. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
