Built a 1641 a few weeks back, got it all broke in and it runs strong im really happy with it. The power is good but there's always room for improvement. Any suggestions on what to do to it next to get a little more out of it? It's basically stock except the 87mm slip ins some mild port work and a 3 angle valve job. And I don't wanna hear 'buy a water cooled'

Becide's a Turbo, Head porting will yield the most HP. Different Cam profile, dual carbs, higher compression or bigger bore or a combo of all the above are your other options. |

If the motor is already built and running, you are pretty much stuck with what you have unless you want to take it back apart to make changes internally. External changes that can help are dual carbs or a turbo. Adding a set of ratio rocker arms may help a little bit too. |

If I ran 1.25 ratio rockers would I have to change valve springs? And what carbs should I run? |

Run what ever carbs your budget will allow. A nice set of dual Weber 40's or Dellortto 36's would be awesome with the right chokes in them your motor will come alive. Since your motor is basically stock you say, I would try to change out the valve springs to some single heavy duty ones if you decide to install ratio rockers. Anytime you change the valve lift, you ALWAYS have to check for coil bind to make sure it's gonna work. It's your job to measure and determine this to prevent damage. Usually a set of 1.25's on a stock cam will work with ANY valve springs but heavy duty ones will make the engine run better. Adding all of this will allow you to get more RPM out of the motor and will add about 10 more horses. Almost not worth the cost............... |

we all know too much un burnt gas will wash the oil out of you rings and boom... |
