Bruno built my engine. He's been building VW for over 40 years and recommends VR1 40 wt. He mentioned something about the metals and bearings needed a certain additive that most oils don't contain. I don't know, but he knows more than me.

The additive is probably zinc which is being left out because of the cats.

Every engine I build gets Brad Penn. IT WORKS. No oil you can buy at AutoZone comes close in my opinion. I pulled big E's motor down after 2 seasons of hard riding and reused the main bearings! Put rod bearings in just for the hell
of it

I was just wondering. I'm still running a 2275 built buy ,I think s&s buggies in Bham .the block internal is 19 yrs old and never broke apart. My dad always ran castrol 10w30. It's hard to change, but always looking for better oil . Motor has just had new jugs and pistons no case noise still today. It's been a good one . Those guys knew how to build them.has anyone heard of them in the day??
