I just wanna know every ones opinion on this.

http://www.geneberg.com/article.php?ArticleID=238

it basically say by removing the stock in shroud oil cooler that it limits air flow to heads, I'm planing on running a remote filter and I have a cooler I could run to I just saw this article and wanted some more advice.

im guessing they are doin all these tests on a motor IN a vw beetle.. alot less airflow around a motor in a car than one on a buggy. i have ran a remote oil cooler for years with no noticable difference. my four seater has the full flow dual cooler set up that is mentioned and that motor seems to run a lil cooler and im sure it helps with the life of the motor.

one common mistake that i see is someone saws on hill and finally gets to the top and they pull over and shut it off.. the motor is HOT and airflow is what brings the temps back down. i try to let mine idle for a few mins and let it cool back off

The later offset or dog house oil cooler were designed to prevent #3 from being starved of air. I highly recommend running a stock dog house style with a remote filter and aux oil cooler. the set up I ran on my Porsche 914 had an aux oil cooler with a fan and thermostatic switch to turn the fan on and off.

After climbing or hard running I would let it idle until the fan shut off. Doing so extends the life of an engine and oil by not coking it. Much the same process if you run a turbo engine.

Thanks allot I knew that by the motor being in a buggy it got allot more air I just wasn't 100% sure. Ive always liked the doghouse style shroud so that just gives me another reason to get one. Im gonna make my buggy a pack rat so Ill wait to put on the cooler and filter setup.
