The typical VW manual will cover pretty much all you need to know. They are not a diffucult motor to rebuild for someone with good mechanical abilitys. Beacuse you are rebuilding and not starting from scratch most of the clearencing has already been done. I dought you will have any cam clearence issues with that small of a crank however double check. Getting the correct Rocker arm ratio is real Important in the VW motor. Check your deck height etc when replacing the P & Cs. Watch when you install your distributer drive gear. The shims like to drop in the motor. make sure you have clearence between the Cam gear bolt heads and the back of the Oil pump. Check your head stud Inserts to make sure they are not pulling out. |
