You could just swap the crank and rods, you can get them cheap....I've got a couple if you're interested. The 1.8 heads are better so it's not all bad. However, I wouldn't want to use that crank and rods.

I would just split it and get ALL the junk out of it. Or maybe some carb cleaner? Thanks Dave T

Case is cleaned inside dosnt look bad at all think I might use carb cleaner or something to spray it out with, need to hone the juggs a little bit due to a little rust and build up, then I just need new carbs and exhaust

A lot of people say NO. The crank is so heavy you need the mass to help smooth it out. Thanks Dave T

I'd say no because most of them are cast and I've heard that you don't want to lighten a cast flywheel. It wouldn't hurt to have it resurfaced though and they can cut down the surface where the pressure plate mounts to give it a little more clamping force.

Honing juggs today, keeping stock size for now I believe 1.8 is a 1795 anyways, juggs and pistons r hard to find for that motor at a decent price, can't find any slip ins. Either

Getting frusterated on this motor, thinking everyone runs type one for a reason so I guess 1.8 might be for sale or trade for somethin

Did you try to pm or call turboblue ( gary at davis racing ) I seem to remember a thread along time back about a guys buggy he put a type 4 together for . I've spoke to him once about some issues on carbs - he helped me out and even put me in contact with another guy who does carbs. Give it a try
