How wide of a rim is best when using a 15.50 wide V-Tred tire? That is good question to leave on the forum but what I really need to know is how much of a beotch would it be to get a 15.50 on a 12wide? And is it gonna make my tred bubble up like a 3 rib tires? haha I really dont want to add a new set of 14 wides to my list...  (yes im going tred. sorry to upset all my AL boys. Larry paid me 5 bucks to say that...)

I would say most 15.50 you see are on 12" wide wheels. I ran that combo on my white car. |

they should be fine on a 12 inch wide wheel... i had a set of terras that were 15.5 on 12 inch wheels. a. cole is right most that you see are on 12 inch wheels unless they are on an aluminum beadlock, then they are most likely on a 14 incher... not many steel wheels that are wider than 12 out there.. |

I had mint on 12" steel wheels until I found some 14" wide aluminum wheels. They are easy to find and much lighter than the 12" steel wheels and actually fit better. imo |

All my V treads & terra's have been on steel 12's. This new rail will have carbon fiber 14's which is new for me. Also going to either run tubes or install inner beadlocks cause I dont want to keep popping the inner bead. |

Mine are 12 wide douglass aluminums. Sounds like they will work ok. Good to hear. Saves me 300 bucks. Thanks for info guys! PS - Why does it sound like steel 12wide is different than aluminum 12 wide? |

The aluminum you see in the woods likley to be 14 because thats whats popular with race cars and easily gotten. Douglas are a bit thinner and bend more easily and not in the woods too often. |

Wide 5's are cheap, lightweight & come with beadlocks. 14" alum. are everywhere. I managed to find 2 Weld 12" with 5" bs but it was not easy. I want em for a set of boggers one of these days. Since you dont climb much you can skip the locks.... |

Cole it just sounded like there was a size difference between aluminum and steels. It sounded like a aluminum 14 was the same size as a steel 12. I guess 12 is 12. I understand the common thing now. Just more 14 aluminums out there than 12s. I know the difference between steel and aluminum. Mine are the .190 wall. They have gotten beat to hell from drifting sideways into trees a while back. I have repaired them and they work fine still. WOOPs Yea ButterNutter. Been a long time since I blown a tire off. I just want light and good looking. 15.50 on some 12s shouldnt be coming off anyways. Gonna throw some sand roosts |

 My spare set on 10" wide. 8 ply with about 5 PSI in them. |

i'd personally say a 10" rim. For the simple fact that if you dont have beadlocks on them and you want to run decently low tire pressure. I watched my buddie blow a bead off 12 times in one weekend when he had a 15.50 on a 12" rim. |

15.50 8 ply tires on a 14" wheel with beadlocks and never even think about blowin' one off or any of that bull. Or even a 4 ply for that matter.... Or at least me and a milllion other people I know who do some very extreme riding don't have trouble. Them little skinny wheels like 10" and 12" make the footprint of your tire all jacked up. They wont hook, and they wear out in the middle bad. Get ya some 14" wide dirt track wheels with beadlocks, done deal!  -Dakotah/koko |

BUT IF YOU ARE GOING TO ENTER THE NEW HILL CLIMBING EVENTS PLEASE PUT THEM ON 10 INCH.
