I wouldn't call it pointless just a catch 22. I found I was pinching the tube in between the ring and the tire causing a flat. If there were no tube in there, hammer down. You don't run a tube, that's when you'll have problems with the inner bead getting bent and leaking air. Aluminumm wheels are extreamly prone to this in my experience. I don't run tubes with my 'locks in the back, I seem to have fewer problems without them. |

I’m running them in my 35x14.50x15 boggers with 14” wide beadlocks. If you have a narrow rim in a wide tire I would say no. If it’s a wide rim in a narrow tire then yes. When I mounted the boggers on the 14” wide beadlocks the non beadlock side bead of the tire was about 8” away before I explosion mounted it. I also read on a lot of the 4x4 web sights that the 35x14.50x15 were prone to come off the inner bead without tubes. When I ran tubes in my 31x15.50x15 cut to the cords firestones with 14” beadlocks the tubes lasted about 1hr in Wellsville. I pulled the tubes and just put valve stems in and they do leak but it takes about 2 weeks to go from 3psi down to 0psi |

Tubes gave me fits for the longest time, but I had to run them in my carbon fiber rims. Curt told me about making a liner out of splitting an old tube and wrap it around the inner tube, with plenty of baby powder (keeps stuff from chaffing the tube) and wash inside the tires, the rims, and liners as clean as possible, like your gonna eat off of 'em and let them dry before assembly. Aint had a flat since doing this. Larry |
