Any one running one and what did you use
A friend used plexi glass and after one muddy ride it was ruined because of scratches
would lexan work or is it the same as plexi glass?

I haven't finished mine yet but around here they have a piece of safety glass cut for around 50 bucks if it is no wider than 48 inches. They silicone the rubber windshield strip in thin fit a piece of quarter inch plywood to size it up. Then have the glass cut to the plywood.

Mine is street legal so we have to use Safety Glass. I just made a template out of form board and a local glass shop cut it out. Since he had to use a hole piece of glass, he actually gave me two for $90.

Installation was easy.. They make a window liner that fits 1 1/2 tubing. Takes about 5 minutes to install and fits perfectly. No holes or silicone to deal with.

I believe Appletree sells the rubber windshield liner.

Just cut some toughened glass for ours, bonded in with polyurethane.

This is what mine was, till it broke on my first ride. Any way to make this removable?

Take a look at mine I have mine in a frame so I can take it off when I tow and wheel. Also it's 1/4 safety glass got it cut for 80.

How much area on the tubing does this windshield rubber occupy? I would like to mount some things on the windshield frame but I need to know how far away to weld my brackets. A close up pic would great.

You do not need to weld anything.. You only need to leave a 1/4 inch between your windshield and the outside frame rails. I used a piece of foam board to create a template and had a local glass shop cut it out.

It helps to put some soapy water on the frame to help the windshield slide in place..

I meant I need to weld light tabs, mirror and install a chicken bar. Was afraid they would get in the way of the rubber. I could buy the rubber now and see how it fits. But the removable frame seems alright to. I prefer no windshield off road but this buggy will be street legal and besides my better half wants a windshield for the road. I guess she doesn't want her hair messed up

Use good safety glass. It is the only thing that will hold up to constant washing/sandblasting/mud smearing. Plexi isn't cheap either these days and it is scratched and hazed after two washings. Mine has a 1" lip of 1/8" all the way around. I used the same double c-channel weather strip a bobcat uses for side windows and sunroof. It just unzips. Takes 30 seconds to remove window and about 5 minutes to put back in. No screws, no hassles, and the 1 inch lip braces the window tubes and helps keep them from flexing and cracking like the tube weatherstrip does. Two of my buddies buggies have the tube weatherstrip (and cracked windows  ).

Here is a link to an EBAY ad I found. He has good pictures of the weatherstrip from a side view to see how it zips up. This is the same stuff I used. It comes in many brands. Just about any glass shop can order it. That is actually not bad for 50 feet. Enough to do 5 or more windows there. I will post a similar pic of mine just for posterity here on the website later.
