Is it safely possible to reduce the wheel base of a buggy? I'm still looking for one,but if I found a good deal on a buggy but it was a bit too long for trails riding, can you sort of chop the frame safely? It is harder to find a decent ride in my area than expected. This sucks! Lol!

You need to update your profile so we know where you are from..

As for chopping the front, that should not be a huge issue on Safety. However, it could make a big change in performance. For trail riding, I am not sure if I have ever seen a buggy too long. Most buggies you will find run around 100 - 115 inch wheel base and that should work fine trail riding.

Good Luck and post the details up here before you buy anything..

I think I'm running one of the shorter buggies around at 96" iirc and it does tight trails just fine. Can't see how the extra foot would really change that much.

Mine is 103". At haspin it is almost too long compared to guys I follow in 86" to 90" buggies. But at all other parks I ride I never touch my tree bars it seems. So it kind of depends on where you are riding. But I would say 100 to 110 will still work anywhere with the exception of one or two really tight turns.

I shrunk the Passat down last year from 131" to 113". With it's heigth it is just right now. 2 years ago I was having another buggy pull me off hill crests sometimes 3 times a day.

My first buggy was around 87 the one I have now is 100 and it feel just right to me however being a water pumper I sometimes wish it was just a little long to have more room in the back but does fine in the woods and really feels at home on a hill

100 to 115 should be just great. IF the trail is tight that is why you have cutter brakes.
