| Post subject: | building a new rear cage |
i am in the process of building a new rear cage for my buggy. my buddy rolled his car late last year and totaled the windshield. so he was going to scrap the frame so i took a hack saw and cut the rear cage off. and i am in the process of putting it on my car, since my normal cage is one of them bolt on/ bolt off type deal. Ill tell you what, sectioning in pipe and making it look like no one ever touched it is tiring, time consuming and lets not forget FRUSTRATING. lol after i finish up the rear cage, skid plate, and trans skid plate, i have to rewire it, then do an easy, simple bumper. Dave, i tell you what, this is not the same buggy i bought almost 3 years ago. you'll be impressed with not only with the way mine looks but with how dad's looks. we streched it to 102" also. Pics coming in the a.m. 4/8 |

So, i worked more today. And i got the top part of the cage all welded in. i added gussets (still have one side to do), tacked my skid plate onto the removable part of the cage, tacked my expanded steel roof extention on, and started tearing out my wiring. i'll have pics tommorrow. |

well i did some work this weekend when it was warm and sunny outside, unlike now. but i finished welding the top section of the new cage, fixed the bottom of my torsion with angle and made a slider with c channel, and added a trans skid plate. all i have to do now is finish the mounting for the bottom part of the cage, add the ford hood skid plate from under the motor to the bracing in the bottom cage, finish front bracing, and last but not least...... a new wiring system... old one burnt up But here are some progess pics... First time that far ![]() ![]()
