Shooting to try and go to the dunes in Silver Lake, MI in June. Got a buddy and his dad that are rebuilding their buggy with a 4.3 chevy and want to try it there first. No set date, they have to complete the build first. Just wanted to see if anyone would be up for the trip/party and wanted to join us.

July 4 much more fun. Its packed & you got fireworks in the sand. I can talk to Pat & Nick at LA Products & see If I can get a cabin for the weekend. It will sleep 8. Its not definite. Just a possibility.

Ill have to stop out there & see. They used to own several of the properties across from the entance to the dunes & I stayed with them a couple times. I want to make sure they still own em & they arent spoken for already.

You mean the brown 2 story? We usually parked in that yard & rolled in before it got crazy. I liked the yellow one I stayed in. It was comfortable for about 5 adults & 4 kids. We each gave them 100 for the 4 days. That was cheap considering how convenient it was. Although listening to Nick talk about the old days on the force by the fire was interesting. It didnt help that I had just been beaten nearly to death by 4 cops about 9 months prior. Joey knew & I think he filled him in the next morning. Wow, that was uncomfortable.....

Holiday weekends :? I have been there They are fun if you have the patience to wait in line. I like seeing all the stuff that people drag out of their places to go riding with. But I will take a non holiday weekend any time.. If you are staying close to the entrance and can show up on Friday the 2nd before 12:00 Noon then you can get a 9~11am dune ready voucher.. any time after that and they go fast and only the later time passes are left. So showing up on Saturday will more than likely leave you with the 3~5 or later times.. And you can get the whole weekend passes at 1 time so all the days early in will be gone. Now if you are not dune ready thats almost better. You put a car in the voucher line and at 9:00 pm they lead you to the voucher center and you pic up your ticket. But be in the non-dune ready line early as these ticket also go FAST. Then you can wake up from the fire pit at 7:00 am and pull your stuff into the parking lot and play all day. I'm not trying to scare anyone off just hate to see a 4hr plus car ride turn ugly... Thanks Dave T

I used to go every year.
July 4th was cool but very crowded.
We started going up on the day of the 4th or the next day.
Meet all the holiday crowd leaving as we were going in.
Didn't have the place to ourselves but damn near.

The dunes is a state park so no drinking.
I have an enclosed trailer and they will look through it and your coolers for booze.

I really like staying here:

Terry the owner is one of the nicest guys you'll meet and his facility is clean and comfortable.
We always stayed in one of his house trailers.
Sleeps 6.

If you want to check out a SL forum go here:

If you go be sure to check out this place on the south end of the dunes:
It's pretty cool and something else to do while there.
