Post subject:  Difference in front tire size.

Been shopping front tires. Am wanting a tire with some kind of lugs on the front and in a 15" rim the only size I can find is 5.00. Allot of buggies that I have looked at have a 6.00 but all the tire companies that I have contacted (about 6 different ones) say that size has been discontinued. So I went ahead and bought a Firestone hayrake tire in a 5.00x15. Just wondering what the size difference might be. Been googling it but can't find a clear cut answer. Anybody have any clues? I think they make the 6.00x15 in the rib tire but never researched it very much because I was wanting some kind of lug.

Thanks!

The bigger the tire the harder it is to steer. It also shortens the life of your steering box. (most of the time) a 5.00 x 15 is a good choice also a 5.50 x15 works well also. The hay rake tires are the best if you have front brakes. They have tread and bite in better when you are going down a hill. The draw back is they do sling mud on you if it is muddy, a rib tire does not pick up mud. I hope this helps Bruce

Thanks Bruce. Didn't think much about the mud slinging but I will have front brakes so if I get a little more mud on me so be it. :D
