Post subject:  combo link set up
I am thinking of going to a combo link set up maybee tweeds 4 x1 3/4 arms raised spindles or not, Wider beam? I need some advice as to what to get? wider beam? What works in the woods what dont. What is everyone running? thanks Kendel

The width of the beam should really be determined by the width of the rear tires so your fronts track with the back. I am running Tweeds 4x1.75 and made my own 8" wider beam but I am also running 4x5 rear arms so the front wheels track with the rear wheels. I didn't see a need for the raised spindles so I just used standard combo's. They are really helpful at Tweeds, give them a call and explain what you have and what you want and they will guide you. The 4" longer arms on the front will give quite a bit of travel and ground clearance at ride height.

I love mine!!!! I'm running a custom setup that the infamous MadMike made. They are 2 1/4" longer and 1" wider with 3"raised combo spindles with disc brake bracket already welded on. What makes mine custom is that I am running a balljoint beam. And NO ONE makes a trailing arm and combo spindle set up for balljoint, only linkpin. I'm not sure if he will still make them, but they are top notch.

I run a 8 over cromoly beam with 4 over wright bro cromoly trailing arms with king kong spindles from wright bro's as well with Q1A coil over shocks. the only thing I would like to chang the shock mt to the top arm .I have changed the one's on my wifes buggy to be top mt I like it better

I run combo spindles with longer arms with afco coilovers,coilovers really lets your front end work,Iam not saying nothing else works, I really like the coilover setup,it seems to keep your front end down more when hitting rock ledges or what not,also coilovers lets you adjust your ride height and stiffness

Are the Affco and QA1 shocks you mention 9" stroke coil overs? What spring rates work? At 125$ a shot i dont want to miss by much! :eek:
How does a 9" shock work out on wheel travel? Your answers are helping alot! :)

right now i have a weekend warrior beam, stock gusseted spindles, stock trailing with lower arm shock mounts added, Latest Rage h/d center steer rack ford international tie rod ends. My turing radius sucks and think more travel will help alot. Am i on the right track? :?

The Latest Rage steering rack can easily be modified to get the steering radius you need. Pull off the bottom thrust plates and grind out the slots further. It will move an extra half inch in each direction.

I've had my front shock knocked off at the shock end.Broke a good carrer shock and when you run coil overs and your shock gets the eye ripped off
they an't nothing to hold the buggy up.ODYKNUCK thats why I want to move my shock mt to the top

rockrockets1, I have never seen any one use the top arm for the shock mount. Typically they are mounted on the bottom to allow for more travel as in a longer shock. Do you have any odd wear on your bushings etc. Typically the lower arm takes the brunt of the hit from terrain however it also has the shock mounted on it. I ask these questions because I have the new QA1 coil overs that are only 8" travel and would like to make use of them if I can. My Warrior beam is set up for 10" travel shocks and the 8" would put the trailing arms 3" higher. If I were to put the lower mounts on the top arm I could use them. Just leary about the approch.

if you look on youtube.com ,under gahillclimber you can see a breef glimps of my wifes buggy's front beam you can see the top shock mt and I have shock hoops on her buggy to mt the top of the shock her name is karen I think it's Karen climes notyet

I have not heard anything bad about them and they have been around for awhile,. You may allready know this however the price does not include the springs and crossover kit required for dual rate shocks.

this info comes from tos 2.5 dual rate set up x2 for 760$ sounds Good cus it is an all inclusive price shocks springs hardware ect.. opinions? :)
