You have been runnin a Toyota rock crawler your whole life? How did you reach the pedals lol just kidding welcome to the buggy world all I can say is be prepared to go more than 2 mph in the woods and meet way better people IMO just put the word out when your headed out somewhere chances are someone else will be there for good times and help if necessary, you'll never look back to crawling and it sounds like you have a capable buggy so you'll be fine we do like pictures though

I'm planning on re painting it red and black just so it will match my truck...but I should be back in Kentucky in the next few month and I ride in the Slade area...I'm just finishing up my tour in the Marine Corps right now out here in San Diego.

Welcome aboard and Thank You for your service.
I wheeled an XJ for a bunch of years and thought I was having a great time until I got a buggy. I built my bug pretty much from scratch with the help from my brother, now I wished he pushed me harder.Last year I finally got it running after screwing with it for 6 years.
Ripping a bug is a lot different than crawling a 4x4. At first the style is really noticeable, you'll screw up several times until you get it right but the more I drive the better my technique gets. The biggest difference I found is 2wd vs 4wd. 4x4 I was able to slug it out and crawl ahead, where as the the bug I found myself using the throttle, clutch, cutters, steering wheel and brain at a much, much faster pace.
I wheel with a lot of very experienced drivers and observe what they are doing. Then I have to quickly make a decision to do what they're doing or not. Some times it's best not to do what they did, if you know what I mean :D
Have fun, enjoy.

Invest in cv joints main thing you gonna break in the woods and the tools to change it with other than that zip tie a spare belt to the buggy and hit the woods

Yes they are military. You can usually find them at a military -surplus store. I think they are RPG canister.

Pycho Alpha gave me the scoop on where to find them, I couldn't find them anywhere locally. I bought all the guy had at the time and sold most of them to friends. Maybe he has more. If not, I might have a couple left.
