Are you wanting a single seater or two seater? The bigger and heavier the buggy the bigger the motor to climb the serious stuff. A 1600 is stock and not real strong for anything other than just trail riding and running it through a 3rib trans is a must IMO if your buggy weighs much. Now I've seen them bumped up to just a 1641 with a cam and good heads and ran through a 3rib and do great. Can climb decent climbs and trail ride just about everywhere you want. Really a 1641 3rib combo is a great starting point I think causes it teaches you how to drive and it's really reliable and then when you do move up to the bigger and badder motors you will have the experience to know how to climb the really big stuff and not have a greater chance of getting hurt. There is so many variables involved in what your wanting to do with it that it really comes down to what and where your wanting to ride. I wouldn't personally buy a buggy with a stock motor without adding the cost of a complete rebuild to at least a 1641 with some goodies. It's usually cheaper to buy an already built one than buy and then rebuild. Look for a buggy with at least a 3rib disc brakes and really good tires. Of course a good motor but with out these you will be buying and adding to it. Chad
