I am looking for a clever way to carry a spare axle without just throwing it the floor board and straping it in with a bungee. A friend is using round ammo cans that are the perfect size for a bus axle but they are near impossible to find. PVC would be perfect but 4" is a hair too small and 6" is way too big. |

Blueprint tubes might work, might be to small also. Could cut the 6" pvc in half and trim it down to make it snug. Then strap it together tight? |

Im going to be using the black diamond plate tool box from home depot its like 20" long and I forget how wide and tall |

Use 5" PVC . Glue a cap on one end and a screw in clean plug on the other. Wrap the axel in a towel to keep it from bouncing around. Then use 5" #1001 Galvanixed straps to mount it in the buggy |

Where are you located? There a place in Dover, Ohio that has the round ammo cans in stock most of the time. |

Where can I get 5" pipe? Home Depot and Lowes have 4" and 6" but no 5". |

cool another cincy rider  welcome to the site man,we got alot of rides comin up that you should join us on,check em out on the upcoming events page. but as far as the axle thing, call worly plumbing or keidel and see if they got the 5inch or there is a place on rt. 4 on the way to drews called army surplus store , they might be able to get the ammo thing for you or might have it

My brother had a section of 4" that was cut long ways in half that could be placed over the axle/cv and then had a cap on each end that had a couple self tapers in them. I am not sure if the cap had to be reemed out, but it looked good and certainly worked. |

Thanks for the welcome DIamond Dav. I've been riding for about 14 years, started out at livingston but been riding at Harlan in recent years. Think I'm going to go to the Wellsville an haspin hill climbs this year. I'm going to make an attemp at posting a picture of the ammo can I'd like to find. The can has a flip lid like the square ones.

I saw a buggy that had two small plates welded to the frame and the Axle and CV's bolted right into the plates. The stayed Greased and ready to go. Looked easy enough and nothing was bouncing around. |

that was my buggy that had the plates welded in and it works perfict. i also had a canvas cover over it to keep it all dry. all you need is 2 holes in each plate to bolt cvs to one on top and one on the bottom. |

I just got started building this setup. 24" long, 6" I.D. Wrap the axle(s) in a towel, then you have a place to lay stuff when you work on the trail, I plan to carry my whole tool and spare parts setup in those two tubes.
