Pull up on the computer. Where we ride at are increadible lists of mining fatalities. If you ride Porter and cross Birmingport road you will ride into the old Virginia Mines .In 1905 100 men were killed there alone in 1 day.But dailey blacks whites and convicts were adding to the list from Coalberg in the 1890's thru out ALL these buggy trails.I can show you 2 shafts near Grass hill alone!Over behind at 5 mile creek was Sayreton no. 2 behind Adkins gropcery with 28 in 1 day.You are riding in ghost woods. Over there at Smokey Falls was a good one.My old GARAGE camp had 10 shotgun houses and lost a few. Flying J gas station was Sayreton no. 1. Morrow and Graves was on the other side of Idiot Dr joe's.Ride with me and I can show u history from hell and print aerial photos of the 1940's, but the mining history started in the 1880's.Hamilton was rite across I-22 to the rite down on 5 mile creek. The Sealed entrance reads Federal work project 1935.Across from the gas pump house down to the left lost a few but I forgot the name but I will find it. I can show yall some machinery and foundations out there aswell and some forgotten mule trails and stone walls.I do know EVERY crack in the wall at Fultondale.Any body seen that 110 year old bidge over 5 mile? |
