OK... Let me start by saying that I HATE snakes... They are my largest fear... I was working in the garage, moved some metal stacked in the corner of the garage and a big gray snake ran behind my workbench.. I wondered where it went.. So I opened the bottom drawer.. No Snake.. but when I opened the second drawer there was a large snake coiled up and striking at me... YIKES... I grabbed a rake and shovel and dragged the snake into the driveway... At this point, my 2 year old and my 5 year old are on top of my dunebuggy screaming.. Needless to say, I did not take the time to determine what kind of snake it was.. A few hits with the shovel and his head was off.. Even with the head off, the snake was still flopping around and the head was still still biting/striking.. Once the excitement calmed down, I did a little research to learn that it was only a Grey Rat Snake but it still scared the crap out of me... The snake was around 6 feet long and as thick as my wrist. I now know they are harmless but I am still not cool with large snakes (or any snakes for that matter) living in my garage... |

Negative. Go down to the Cahaba and spend a few weeks.Dive off into the water. Feed cat fish like baby sharks. Today a macasin swam by and I realized we can all share this beautiful river God gave us. Yes they are deadly , but so is Kevin if you piss him off, so don't do it and live together. Ahhhhh! |

I would have caught it and made it a pet for the day. Over the weekend I caught 2 - 26" long Eastern Milk snakes in the Mulch bed. Kept them for the day . Had I had a suitable place to keep them I would have. They are very colorfull and often mistaken for Copperheads. |

I suggest everyone take the time to learn more about snakes. Aparently you have rodents or some other FEED that these snakes are intrested in. However, you are not that feed. Snakes will not attack you or your children, but will keep your shops free of the rodents and other items on which they count on for survival. You have probably been closer to more snakes on yor trail travels than you ever have in your own turf. EDUCATE YOURSELVES. And with proper precautions, Rattlesnakes make dandy table fare.

Snakes don't bother me a whole lot........but spiders except daddy long legs scares the crap out of me like there is no tomorrow, I just about had a heart attack one day when Pipedope picked up a walnut looking piece and cracked it open and it was plum full of little black seeds and threw it on me saying "SPIDERS!!" I was strapped in the buggy and could not run like hell, you talk about a gut buster laughs the guys around me did at me....lol |

Wow... 2 days in a row.. I got home today and another 6 foot rat snake was lying across my driveway.. At 1st, I thought my kids were playing a prank and put the dead one across the driveway. However, after a double take, I saw it was moving.. Since I was in the jeep and this one was going into the yard (not my garage) I left it alone.... I HATE snakes but we can co-exist if they stay the hell out of my garage.. |

Bubbalowe has been having problems with red squirrels and chippys getting into his house. Most of the time they seem to die of lead poisoning in the yard (22cal w/cb shorts). So two weeks ago when he saw a shadow in the recessed light in the kitchen there was only one thing to do. Needless to say the light cover had to be changed cause of the hole and the blood. Bubbalowe removed the deceased squirrel and replaced the light cover. A few minutes later I get a call from his wife to catch a snake in the house, I thought she was kidding.  I stopped in the garage to grab some gloves, not knowing what kind it would be. I walked into Bubbas kitchen and there it was about a foot long laying on the recessed light cover. Upon removing the cover I grabbed the snake only now realizing it was only the tail I saw on the light cover. After a couple minutes pulling on the snakes tail I found its head and pulled it out of the ceiling. It was about a 5 footer. We were trying to measure it but Bubbalowe couldn't bring himself to put the tape right on the snake

Upon closer examination of the snake it had a pretty big lump in the middle (see the pics). So we did what any hillbilly redneck pennsyltuckien would do with a snake this size. We decided to feed it the deceased squirrel from earlier. He had to be hungry right? I put the snake down by the squirrel with a couple shakes of the squirrel the snake struck and began feasting. Notice the light cover with the blood and hole.  After It ate the treerat we released it in the woods out back. |
