Linkpin to Balljoint. I've pretty much decided it's going to see more pavement than dirt and wouldn't be worth the extra cost to get a linkpin frontend. I know you all are going to give me hell, but that's pretty much what I've decided, heh.

Hey, quick question. What exactly is the difference (measurement) in the tube spacing between the balljoint and king/linkpin beams? I think I'm going to convert the front mounts on my chassis. Thanks, Pat |

Mine's 100% off road with a ball joint, it rides nicer and I haven't had a problem and I'm rough on it. -Blake |

Ah, excellent. That's good to hear. It's definitely decided then. So, does anyone know the measurements? If anyone knows the spacing of the balljoint beam, throw it up here. If someone knows the spacing of the kingpin beam, throw it up here. Then I can subtract.

Kingpin beam C/L to C/L is 4 3/4" and the Balljoint C/L to C/L is 6" |

Correct. I worded that kind of weird when I said "open it up," my bad. I'm gonna bend the top tubes up a bit, maybe cut them back some too, depending on the angle it gives me. |

Ok, if you are going to be driving on the road, I suggest that you figure out what degree the frame beam mounts are and try to get the fabrication of the new mounts as close to that angle as possible. this way the bj beam castor and camber will be as close to stock as possible. This will help with any steering problems especially at high speeds on the road. Good Luck! |

Yeah, I will definitely be taking that into consideration and doing a bit of research on that. Thanks a lot man, look forward to meeting you on the trails sometime! I'm going to get some pictures up of my project and updates eventually, but haven't gotten around to it yet. |

Thoes numbers are not correct. The centerline to centerline on a link/king pin beam is 5.211". The c/l to c/l on a ball joint beam is 5.894", giving you a .683" difference which is just under 11/16". Also note that when you "open up" the spread on the upper rails it will cause the torsion housing assembly to lean back ever so slightly, hardly noticable. I would suggest, if you MUST use a ball joint beam, lightly bolt in the BJ beam into the upper clamps heat and raise the upper rails untill the BJ beam just fits into the lower clamps and bolt it all up tight to help hold the set untill everything cools off. |

Ah, well thanks for the correction, though I do like your idea so it wouldn't matter anyway. I already have the frame welded solid so I wasn't going to raise the front of the armrails, so no problems there. That small of a difference in spacing shouldn't pose any problems at all, that's great. Thanks man. |
