I am thinking of updating to a rack and pinion any thoughts

It will last a lot longer than a stock VW box. I will say you will get more terraine feedback from a rack.

Don't buy a cheap one, they only last about twice as long as a stock box. Saco magnum is the way to fly. Buy one and be done.

my Saco has very little to no feed back,,only when I stuff it into a wall or tree! lol I need to get the charlynn all hooked up!

DONT Waste your money on the Junk China rack they are 1:1 and have lots of feed back! everyone I ride with that has 1 they have very sore wrists lol
