im getting ready to build a new single seat,2nd gear,2500, buggy mainly for climbing,and im thinking about air bags instead of a torsion housing.i know there is alot of good buggys out there that runs a torsion and is happy with it (i have one myself that does a good job) But if i could get the same ride or better and loose quite a bit of weight and have good adjustment, i would like to try air bags.i know this subject has came up before but i would like to hear everybodys thoughts on this,and for the pro airbag guys what bags do you run .thanks to everyone in advance. |

I say torsion but another alternative would be 2.0 air shocks like i put on my 4 seater you can do away with torsion bars and adjust your ride how you want it. And if you go torsion i would put a torsion adjuster in the torsion do away with that stinken stock way of adjusting. cant wait to see it when your done. |

On board air is nice and might as well have bags so you can adjust at the flip of a switch. Plus it makes dissasemble super easy. There is good and bad with them as always with anything. If your compressor goes out you are inconvenienced. |

I personally think that you get a little sway in the tail end with bags ive drove a couple and thats the way they fell to me. just my .02 cents |

They felt "squishy" on my two seater when climbing, and if you put enough air in them to get rid of it, they were too stiff. Couldnt feel what the ass end of the buggy was doing. But they were awesome for jumping.

I've got bags on the back of mine, It climbs great (till the 1641 runs out of power). Bags are the budget way to go. Afterburnt runs the fox's, they are better than bags, but bags are way cheaper. I can't see the torsions even coming close to bags or the fox's. I don't have on board air. I just set them and forget them. However I'm not doing competion hill climbs, so If they are not perfect it's no big deal. The base is about 4 or 5 inches o.d. I run 30 psi in them. I don't know what brand they are, Ask Dave Hix, I bought them off of him. |

I notice that the torsion buggys that climb very well feel stiff in the rear. I guess I need to be stiffer for climbing,,,,,,,,,,,,,but I can relax the rear for a very comfortable trail ride. |

has anyone ever broken the fox airshocks or are they pretty tough,that would put you on the trailor if you did,im sure there`s not alot of spares in the trailors |

Ive never seen a fox shock break but just incase im running torsion bars and fox shocks i put a torsion adjuster in and turned them down real lite then bumped up the pressure in the shocks that way if my shock would break than i could crank up my torsion bars easy with the adjuster. Another thing is now they work like a coil over my shock absorb most and then my torsion does the rest. Marty im not taking anything away from your buggy but he said his building a lite buggy your bags work good with your heavy buggy its been proved that torsion bars work in a lite single seater. |

Adjusters are fine till you break one half way up a bad hill and you do tricks all the way to the bottom |

I AGREE ABOUT THE SUSPENSION BEING SOFT,MY TORSION NOW IS VERY SOFT,IT WILL JUST HOLD THE BUGGY UP AND THATS THE WAY I LIKE IT.THE NEW BUGGY SHOULD BE A LOT LIGHTER THAN THIS ONE, I THOUGHT MABE THE AIRBAGS OR AIR SHOCKS WOULD BE EASIER TO ADJUST TO THE SOFTNESS I WANT OR EVEN COILOVERS.I DONT MIND THE ADDED EXPENSE IF IT WORKS LIKE I WANT IT TO .LETS HEAR YOUR OPINIONS ON THE COILOVERS |

It aint really THAT bad adjusting your torsion with a stock torsion... Do it a few times to get it set how ya want, and ya can't beat it for what you're planning on using that buggy for, Mike. -Dakotah/koko |

yeah dakota i know i have an adjuster in mine now and i probably havent touched it 3 years or longer .like pipedope and your dad said the torsion has been tested for a long time and does a very good job. you know when you build a new buggy you use alot of things that you know work, but thats a good time to try new stuff also.im happy with the ride and suspension on mine now,i was just trying to save some weight on the new build |

I run slam specialties re-6 bags and i have a pretty light buggy for a 2 seater. They work well and now that im learning to drive better my.buggy climbs very well with them. If u go.bags get these and mount them as far out on the arms as possible. They do not expand out like most bags. |
