I'm thinking about buying this buggy. Let me know what you think. This buggy is owned by a friend of mine. He wants $4k for it. This would be my first buggy. I have a family with kids, so I really like the 4 seats.
163" long
Comes with 2 engines. A 2276cc, and a Ford SHO engine.
5 lug front, 4 lug rears
A full set of new Sand tires on aluminum wheels
A full set of used mud tires on aluminum wheels
Disc Brakes all around
6 rib bus trans
type 1 & 2 cvs ?
turn signals & lights, windshield, w/s washer, w/s wiper, horn.
Everything street legal title clear
Needs rewired but comes with painless wire kit
The SHO engine is currently mounted to the buggy, but the electrical is not done, and it needs headers.
I think the front is Beam w/extended arms. 6" I believe.

These pics don't show the SHO engine.

I can do wiring, but I'm not sure about the SHO's computer and sensors and stuff like that.
What do you think?

that looks like a pretty good deal to me,lot of nice parts on it.you could always sell one of the engines to get some of your money back but id keep them both and probly run the 2276.it looks like a new build by the pics, dont know if you will like the paddles unless you plan to ride sand.good luck and if you get it welcome to the buggy world.chad

Looks good, that SHO motor is a bad mother I hear. Keep the water cooled. It will save you money on the re-build

It has been ran at Silver Lake sand dunes a few times with the 2276. The SHO has a new aluminum radiator and electric fan with it too. I know the 2276 would be easier to mess with but the SHO has about twice the HP.

It looks pretty nice to me. You could sell the water motor to buy the parts you still need. Looks like a great deal.

Nice thing on that SHO motor is its stock. Depndibility should be greater then a race motor tweeked to its limits. The parts on that ford are cheeper and easier to come by as well. It will be more work to get it in the first time, but shouldnt need more then a cpl oil changes a year after that. If the VW motor lets go you are looking at a decent amount of money to rebuild. Not to mention my wife has no desire to sit in the woods while I work on carb jets and stuff, lol. I love my water pumper. they run around 150k miles normally before you have any major engine problems or need a rebuild. Whats the life on most drag motors? And yes i know, I will probibly piss some AC guys off, but I want you to see both sides. They both have pros and cons. Hard to beat an AC motor for power to weight ratio once you build it to 1.5 times stock.

Yeah, I think I'll try the SHO motor first. Anybody got any ideas on headers for it? It's a 1992 3.0L V6

Try e-bay, if not there post what you are looking for on Craigs list. Then summit racing, speedway motors and jegs. Good luck.
