I have a type 1 frame with a 002 bus trans. Anyone run the type 1 to type 2 conversion stubs? How well do they hold up? Is there a better way to get to all type 2 cv joints? Im all off road. Not to much rocky stuff mostly coal and hard dirt. Thanks for the help. :D

You can drill car stubs out to accept bus cvs. But ive been running the empi stubs for anout 5 years . No problems

You can drill your sedan stubs but I'd put on a locator ring.

Bus pattern is really close to the edge w/o it.

I'd do what jayrod did and buy the aftermarket version.
Only downfall is they only have the one pattern.
Conversion stubs still have the sedan pattern you can use in a pinch.

I ran into a problem last year with a couple bolts worked loose and snapped off. Ive been tossing around the idea of drilling a second set of holes in the stub just for that reason...if it happened again, simply spin the cv to the new holes and hammer down. Any thoughts on that?

really i dont believe that. as far as the stubs go ive machined the lip off stock ones and drilled them out for the bus cvs and they work just fine.

X2 I've done a couple of sets like that with no issue.

Adding the second set of bolt holes will work no problem

Might work with the aftermarket version but on a conversion stub you would then have 3 sets of holes.
I guess lighter is better though...............

lol..the reason i was thinking about it, One it happened to me except when i finally found out they all broke, and Two other ppl running the empi stubs find broken off bolts in them. Doesnt make a whole lot of sense.
