It's a 5 month old 1915 Dual port build that has been ran VERY little. It has a "Dual" Weber carb, bigger heads, and a blower cam, from what I was told. I CAN NOT get this thing to run correctly. I had the carb gone through by an "old school" hot rodder. He said it was filthy, and didn't say anything about it being cracked (which has been mentioned as a possibility). What Jets should be in this thing? How does the timing work on these? Here are pics of them... should they just slide apart? Seems like they need a dab of lock tight to stay in place??

DO NOT USE LOCTITE!!! lol, they are suppose to be like that.. far as jets, 55-60 idles and 155-160 mains should get it pretty close, but judgeing by the pics, the carbs looks like it has sat in the weather :( jus blowing through the jets is probably not enough, u will need to get a complete rebuild kit with float and accelerator pump and probably be a good idea to let it soak for a day or so and blow thru all the passages and jets and allow time to dry before reassembly.. i dunno exactly what degree timing should be, more specs on the motor (cam #, head size and compression play a factor in this..) but a good way to get close with out knowing all specs is to get it cranked and running.. loosen the dist jus enough that it will turn. get the revs around 2500 and twist the dist.. clockwise advances and counter clockwise retards, find that sweet spot and tighten it down. the sound of the motor will tell you what it does and doesnt like, but careful not to jus crank on the dist as it doesnt take much turn to make a change.. hope this helps

I'm not a guru but I struggled with my Weber for years, never wanted to idle and stumbled a lot, till I finally broke down and bought a rebuild kit and went through it proper. Like Reno said. It ran perfect after that!

I forgot to post the jet sizes: Main "GMCI 1.25", with "F7" long part? The smaller jet is a "50". So leave the jets just the way they are? They slide on and off very easily. Also... It has an electric fuel pump running straight into the carb with a "y" line running back to the tank for a return. I'm thinking of doing away with this and installing a mechanical pump.

1.)Anyone know what mechanical pump I may need?

2.)What is the Main "GMCI 1.25" equivalent to? Is it close to a "155"?

3.)Where do I get a rebuild kit for the carb? Jets?

THANKS!!!

thats the size of the carb, should be stamped on the base on the backside of most weber idf carbs

take a pic of the carb inlet or "y" and electric pump, most dont need a return to the tank if using the correct pump, however johnsons foreign car in decatur can fix you up if you want to convert back to a mechanical pump, that is if the block has provision for it

1.) i think the alt style will work on any 1600 style , you will also need the correct pump rod and the spacer

2.) ignore the "GMCI" and not sure what you mean by "equivalent" a 1.25 is a 1.25mm jet unless its been drilled or tampered with, about .30mm difference between the two sizes, some jets have the decimal and some dont or it is either just illegable, in talking most folks just refer to them as "125" or "155"
