There are several guys around here that run a toggle switch to power the coil and a key switch to crank the engine. I am guessing that is probably what you have. It will definitely "warm the points" if you leave the switch on.

I am wanting to put a key switch I got from adavance on my buggy. I was wornding how to hook the point warmer up? I have never heard of this but its on my buggy.lol You have to flip it on befor you startit than after it starts you turn it off? |

Point warmer? That’s a new one for me. You sure it doesn’t turn on the choke? What carb and motor do you have so we can get an idea what it is. I put a key in my first buggy and it lasted ½ of season. Then I bought an all brass switch from a boat shop and that lasted 2 seasons. Now I have a sealed push button for the starter and a toggle switch for the ignition and never had any more problems. |

I use a boat switch,,for weather proof reasons ,,like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Johnson- ... iesQ5fGear problem is if you want to move the buggy with the starter ,,you need that second toggle to cut power to the engine so it won't start

You should'nt need a key switch, just run a main off/on switch, who needs a key? If I don't want to leave it there thinking someone will take it, you always can run a kill switch hidden to only you will know where it is, I have one but the location is top secret What if you lose the key in the woods? It will be a pain to try to hot wire it just to get going. This is just my $0.02

after riding with willie and seeing the set up he has and kyle i think i am going the way they did when i redo my switch box.willie has a push button control panel with like fiber cable real little takes all that loose wires stuff away and while following him i seen him just have to reach up and touch a button and start it instead of turning a key switch,and it takes up hardly any space so no need for a big switch box over your head.but if you go with a key switch i just buy those all purpose switches from advance take a little bit of grease or candle wax and go around where the switch body is put together.i pressure wash mine and they have lasted for years this way so i hope willie or kyle post pics of theirs so you all can see what they have because i think they have the best set up i have seen.chad

I love the ARC setup. Best thing I ever found. Waterproof, one single cable, all the relays and wires to do the whole buggy for 200.00 and a lifetime warranty. If you velcro the switch panel to the bar (it weighs maybe and oz.) you can unplug it and make it impossible to turn on any switches or accessories. |

ive had good luck with my key switch i allways keep an extra in my toolbox just in case i lose one its been in there since 2006 i just ran the ign to the coil bat to the battery and starter to the starter it allways started up and ran fine for me plus you get 4 extra keys with it i have lost 3 but whos counting |

I've got a key switch out of a piece of CAT equipment. It is super heavy duty (rated for 200amps  ) and has a steel key which keeps me from breaking it. The thing that I like is that when you crank it over it locks out so that you have to turn it all the way off before you can crank again.

One of my buddies moved it a couple hundred yards on me when I took a ride with someone else. Weird sorta feeling.
