I have a IMI Hi Torque starter motor, unfortunatly one of the contacts in the solenoid has melted and I need a spare. I have emailed IMI direct and got no response. So was going to call them and ask if spares are available. But despite them having a TOLL FREE number this will still cost me quite a few ££££ to call from here in the UK. Would somebody be willing to call them on my behalf on thier TOLL FREE number and ask if spares ARE available? There's nothing on thier website about spares and their distributor here in the UK has refused to help. This starter costs £230 here in the UK, thats about $370!!! Their number is 888.2HI.TORK or 888.244.8675 and thier website is http://www.hitorque.com/ Anyone feel like being a good samaritan? |

They say that a picture says a thousand words... ![]() I need the two parts in the back ground, to replace the ones in the foreground. It looks like the contact has arc'd away, then overheated and melted its plastic insulator. These are the contacts in the solenoid, a bolt goes through the square hole and thats what the battery cable attaches to.. Not sure what the correct name is! Any help would be appreciated. |

Called Jack @ Hitorque then e-mailed him the pic. He will let me know the best way to go. Where do you live over there? He thinks you should b able to order it locally cheaper. |

Well I tried VW Heritage, who are the UK importers and they said they cannot help as they do not supply spare parts. I then tried Power Lite, a company who makes an identical starter but for British classic cars and they said they do not supply spare parts.. I'm starting to wonder if IMI simply buy Denso starters and then fit the appropriate adaptors, all these parts are metric which is a little odd for a US manufactured part. I used to work as a design engineer for Prestolite and everything, including stuff we made here in UK, was imperial dimensions.. I currently live in Chichester, which is on Englands south coast.. |

Mr. Metzger, Yes, these are indeed contacts for a DENSO starter located in the solenoid. Have your friend contact either Luke or Shannon. Their phone number is 011.44.7793.894732. I believe they are located right in the middle of England. The name of the city/county is Aylesbury, Bucks. I do hope this will assist your friend. Luke is an extremely knowledgeable individual. I am confident your friend will be in good hands. Respectfully, Jack Isom I hope this helps. Let me know if you need more |

Phillip. These appear to be the same contacts used in Denso starters in Toyotas. Check with your local Toyota dealer. I used to take those solenoids apart and reverse these contacts when they started acting up, and those starters would normally last another few years. My customers loved the fact that my $45.00 repair was saving them hundreds over a replacement starter. Yours are obviously beyond salvaging, but in the event you can't come up with any, I would gladly send you a set FREE. I have a box full of them. Cheerio mate! |

Thanks for all the help guys! especially you Jason for calling Hi Torque for me. I can't believe these starters are from the UK, I suppose it explains why they're junk! |

I'm pretty sure that one of the aftermarket hi-torque units for the Nissan VQ35 V6 fits the VW setup with a little adaptor plate, as it's what we used to run 'fore we destroyed the vw gearbox, and what's still fitted now, albeit with a bigger adaptor |
