Finally got my ecotec swap done. Went from a stock 1600 dp to the 03 chevy ecotec. After helping my buddy "motoman" do his swap I had to do mine. took me about 2 weeks to finish. Very happy with the outcome. Did the hole swap for under $2000.

well the first thing i noticed was the power difference after I laid down a nice patch of rubber. The next thing I noticed was the difference in time that things happen after running into a tree stump lol. I didnt have to adjust the torsions and its seems to ride alot smoother now with the added weight. We weighed my buddys ecotec at 301 LBS. with adapter plate. When you really hit the throttle its seems to lift the buggy up to almost feel like your floating sorta. Its weird to describe, you just need to experience it. Those tires are 32X12x15 and it spins them like nothing.
Pro would be the price of engines. I my ecotec with wiring harness an ecu for $200. Bought my 1600 dp for $400. Got my wiring harness done up and ecu flashed for $495. Was 3 wires and I was running and I still have my obd port to check for codes.

Ill right up a list of pros/cons as i think of them.

We are and Antique auto restoration shop. We do everything in house, start to finish. Im 1 of the few that can actually say Ive worked on almost every year car ever made. Right now we have a 1903 Shaq (not how you spell it and not sure exactly how they spelled it yet). Also a 1908 oldsmoible.

Love it man! From what I understand its somewhat similar to my Quad4, and I love my engine. Go up a hill at part throttle, without clutching it, hammer it. Then let me know what you think.

Looking good. I only see one thing you might need to change the radiator hose going to the top I think it needs to go to the bottom port on the radiator. Somebody correct me if I am wrong. Don't the hose coming out of the thermostat suppose to go to the top of the radiator? I hope I am wrong, because it will make my plumbing of the radiator easier.

If you think about it, the engine in the car the top on the rad went to the top an the bottom went to the bottom. My buddys an I had lots of questions on this too. It seems the ecotec pushes the water through the engine. I just hooked the lines up how they were in the car. It dosent make sense to me ether.

enginewiring.com

it was serioulsy 2 easy to hook up. Tom made it a 3 wire hook up. Ign., bat. power, and a check engine light wire.

Try front drums, worth a few more pounds and a race brace. Did those to mine, and made a huge difference. And don't worry about the weight, you'll have plenty of power!

Immortal,
What kind of radiator are you using?
Any problems with over heating?
