I realize there are probably other sources out there, but you guys have been so great with my little insight into the subaru world....I'd rather ask here. Anyway, looking into a new pavement toy. mostly just for street use, but the occasional autocross as well. My uncle has a porsche 914 in pretty good shape (well, no rust, good suspension and brakes), but it has a dead cylinder. presumably a stuck valve. I'm thinking about putting a subaru motor in it, and talked to a local guy who's done a few VW-subaru swaps, but wasn't sure what the specifics were to the porsche (he's done a couple vans, and a Type 3....all rear-engined). would it use the same adapter plate? He suggested Outfront motorsports for the plate and flywheel. He had one sitting in the shop, looked like an awesome unit! I'm shooting for about 200hp/ft lbs, clutch suggestions? Also looking to see if anyone makes/sells a bolt-in cradle for it. I see Renegade Hybrids does, but they only sell it as part of their kit, which costs $2k! |
