I got it finished enough at least to shift. I think I'm going to put a bracket up front and move the side to side cable forward like the last picture has it. As it sits it shifts just fine. I'm just wanting to do that so I can move my shifter further forward. The shifter itself it out of a honda accord with the shift handle turned around. Here's some pictures.
The pattern is now
R13
--24

This is the part that goes on the end of the shift shaft.

Here's the tabs I made to hold the cables. I drilled the hole then made the slot using an endmill.

I'm going to use a 1/4" rod end around the cable sheath to keep it from flopping around. It works perfectly fine without it but I don't want it pulling on the cable as I'm bouncing around off road. This is one of the reasons I'm going to move the side to side cable to the front. I don't have any place to put a bracket to support the rod end with it on the back.

Did you get your cable secured forward with end? Are you still happy with the way it works? What year accord?

That is pretty slick. The only question I have is can you feel the gates or are you searching to find them?

I personally experienced this shifter in the stage of completition in the pics and it is smooth and responsive. I am looking forward to working it through the gears once the buggy is driveable. If I ever go to the midshift tranny I will have John build me this shifter for sure.

I finished it a while back. The front bracket works well. I turned another one of the pieces that threads on the end of the shift rod so its a bit tighter than it was in the video. I have it all apart right now cause I put the chassis on a frame jig. I'm thinking about making it out of aluminum when I get a chance. I found out this shifter isn't out of an accord. Its supposed to be one out of an eclipse. It came off a parts shelf at a friend's shop. PM me for a price/list of parts if you want one. One downside to my setup is I have no way to cut the splines for the piece that hooks up to the shift shaft so I'll need cores for this piece to use to make these.
