same internals as a car the case is a tad different. i ran one with a superdiff and a 2332 for a few rides with no problems.

IIRC it has the same stronger gearbox gears as an AT code 3:88 sedan IRS tranny but with the 4:125 R&P.
Also has the larger drive flanges that will accept the T-2/4 CV joints.

Yes but only because it has a 4.125 ring and pinion vs a 3 rib's 5.38.

I guess you mean taller?
The 3-rib has a 3.80 1st gear (most anyway), with a 5:38 R&P. If you multiply this you get 20.44 for the final drive ratio (it takes 20.44 turns of the input shaft to turn the tires over once (in 1st gear). The THING trans usually has a 3.78 1st (although some may have a 3.80-not much difference either way), BUT has a 4.12 R&P (most). If you multiply this you get 15.57. This is a pretty big jump and it only gets worse in the rest of the gears, lol The thing trans is really good as it has the late internals and stronger 9-tooth 1st gear BUT has the lower R&P instead of the 3.88 that most late model IRS transmissions have.
