I would say Chris is about right BUT it also depends on what tires you have and what clutch you are using. |

That depends on the weight of the buggy, what tires you are using, are the tires cut?, and the type of riding you will be doing. Any pavement riding involved? Dirt only? Any drag racing? Not only is the clutch disc important but the pressure plate clamping force has to be considered as well. That will be chosen based on the weight of the car. It's hard to recommend something because everyone has their own opinions and experiences. Driving style has alot to do with it too. Will you be side stepping the clutch at 7 grand? There is no perfect answer......... The shock load on the gear teeth in the transaxle is transfered by the clutch. I am a firm believer to go conservative on the clutch. It's much cheaper to replace than a transaxle! |
What is the most HP/CC's this transaxle will take power wise without upgrading it? Thanks, Bruce
Which vanagon? There are two different versions. For the most part they are the same as an 091. The water cooled version has a much stronger reverse gear. Got some guys running 2498cc engines on the w/c version and have been for 3 years. |

Well That confirms what I was told on the water cooled. Its about half way between the 3 rib and a nose shift 6 Rib. I think Im gonna like that. Not to tall not to short. |

Any body ran both the 5 and 6 ribs that can share there experience with them. I have only ran the 3 rib and I felt it was geared with to high of a ratio. |

You will LOVE the 4.86 ratio. There are times I wish my gearbox had one. |
